Question
How can I change the default TTL for the newly created cPanel account's DNS Zones?
Answer
To do this, edit the DNS Zone Template, using WHM's [Home »DNS Functions »Edit Zone Templates] and select the correct zone template to change. Most commonly, you would edit the template for "standardvirtualftp" as this is the template for domains using the server's main shared IP.
After editing the template, the main TTL would be the value in the third line:
; cPanel %cpversion%
; Zone file for %domain%
$TTL %ttl%
Simply replace "%TTL%" with the correct value that you would like to use. For example:
$TTL 600
Then save your changes. After doing this, newly created cPanel accounts will use the new TTL for their DNS entries.
