Symptoms
In cPanel version 124, domains such as cptesting.tld.10-2-50-186.cprapid.com
, where cptesting.tld
is a main or parked domain on a cPanel account, are added to the ServerAlias
section of the Apache httpd.conf
file.
Description
These domains are "Temporary Domains" to aid in viewing websites prior to DNS being active.
We've opened an internal case for our development team to investigate this further. For reference, the case number is CPANEL-46086. Follow this article to receive an email notification when a solution is published in the product.
Workaround
If the number of domains due to Alias or Parked domains on a VirtualHost is causing issues, such as a SSL certificate having too many domains included (100 domains on Let's Encrypt), this can be mitigated with the following steps:
-
Remove parked domain via Domains page in cPanel
-
Re-add domain via Domains, ensure “share document root” is disabled
-
Set document root to the same as the primary domain (ie public_html) to have the content displayed the same as the primary.
This will force the domain to be created as an Addon with a unique VirtualHost, instead as a parked/alias domain, helping keep the total number of domains below 100.
