How to Transition from a Third-Party License to a Direct cPanel License

If you currently hold a license through a third-party cPanel provider and would like to switch to a direct cPanel license, follow the steps below to ensure a smooth transition without downtime.

Steps to Transition Your License

1. Contact your current license provider and inform them that you do not wish to renew your license for another term.
2. Request the license expiration date from your current provider.
3. Submit a request to cPanel Customer Service with the following:
   • Your intention to switch to a direct cPanel license
   • The expiration date of your current license
4. A Customer Service representative will schedule a task to activate a 3-day emergency license on the day before your current license expires. This ensures your server remains licensed during the transition.
5. On or after your third-party license expires, purchase a new license directly from the cPanel Store at:
   https://cpanel.net/pricing
6. Once purchased, the new paid license will immediately replace the temporary emergency license—no downtime required.
7. To activate the new license on your server, run the following command as the root user via SSH:

   /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
