License File too old (updates expired)

Symptoms

You may see an error like the following while attempting to update cPanel.

License is too old (updates expired)

Description 

This is due to updates for the license expiring. This can be verified at the following link.

Workaround

If the license was purchased from cPanel directly, you can log into your store account at https://store.cpanel.net/login/ and purchase further updates for the server. Instructions are provided below.

1) Click the View my licenses link

2) Find the IP of the current lifetime license

3) Click the circle icon with the arrows to the far right of that IP

4) Complete the checkout of your 1 Time Updates purchase

If the license was purchased through a Partner or Distributor, you would need to contact them directly to purchase the update.
