Why is the process Dovecot/anvil using a high percentage of CPU?
Answer
The Anvil process monitors incoming Dovecot authentication requests to track penalties and slow down brute-force attempts. The CPU usage of this process will increase based on the number of active connections to the server. It is not uncommon to see a single CPU thread used at 100% on a busy server.
