Symptoms
When sending emails through a smarthost, the email is rejected, and the messages similar to the following are in Exim's mainlog.

Description
Smarthosts will reject an email if the smarthost configuration is incorrect or if there is an issue with the smarthost account.
Workaround
Verify that the smarthost configuration is correct and the smarthost credentials are valid.
