MailScanner issues after cPanel update to versions 110 and 120 or higher

Symptoms

After upgrading cPanel to versions 110 and 120 or higher, the server stops sending emails and you may see a message similar to the following in Exim's main log file.

CONFIG_TEXT: 2024-04-22 20:08:53 1ryunf-0000000020r-1rak Spool file 1ryunf-0000000020r-1rak-D not found

Description

Exim was upgraded to the minimum of version 4.97, which changed the message ID format. This prevents MailScanner from locating the correct spool file.

Workaround

Uninstall MailScanner, or upgrade it to version 5.5.1-2 or later.

Note: cPanel does not provide MailScanner, and ConfigServer has been shut down. You will need to upgrade MailScanner using a 3rd-party source.
