Why do I get the error "CNAME and other data" when trying to add a CNAME record?

This issue occurs on the WHM Edit DNS Zone page when you try to add or edit a CNAME record. This error indicates that you have a domain name in your zone file that owns both a CNAME record and a record of another type. You need to remove the conflicting record to add the new CNAME record.
Please note that the zone apex (records that share the same name as the zone itself, "domain.com" for example) cannot be set as a CNAME record. For more information please visit the following:
