Introduction
Apache SpamAssassin examines incoming emails and tests for spam characteristics by evaluating specific parts of an email. Using Bayesian filtering techniques and network tests, it assigns each message a score based on the evaluation. This article provides a brief overview of customizing SpamAssassin from the cPanel interface.
Spam Filters
SpamAssassin can be customized with the "Spam Filters" interface in cPanel. The "Spam Filters" interface has four sections, along with the "Advanced Configuration (For Advanced Users)" sections containing three additional sections.
- "Process new emails and mark them as spam"
- "Move New Spam to a Separate Folder (Spam Box)"
- "Automatically Delete New Spam (Auto-Delete)"
- "Advanced Configuration (For Advanced Users)"
- "Whitelist (Emails Always Allowed)"
- "Blacklist (Emails Never Allowed)"
- "Calculated Spam Score Settings"
Process New Emails and Mark them as Spam
The "Process New Emails and Mark them as Spam" section turns SpamAssassin on or off for the cPanel account.

Move New Spam to a Separate Folder (Spam Box)
The "Move New Spam to a Separate Folder (Spam Box)" section enables or disables "Spam Box" for the cPanel account. If "Spam Box" is disabled, messages marked as spam will be delivered to an email account's Inbox instead of the Spam folder.

Automatically Delete New Spam (Auto-Delete)
The "Automatically Delete New Spam (Auto-Delete)" turns on or off the automatic deletion of messages with a spam score greater than the "Auto-Delete Threshold Score."
Please note that if the "Auto-Delete Threshold Score" is the same as the "Spam Threshold Score," all messages marked as spam will be automatically deleted.

Additional Configurations (For Advanced Users)
The "Additional Configurations (For Advanced Users)" section is an expandable section that contains the sections to manage SpamAssassin's whitelist, blacklist, and spam score weights.
Whitelist (Emails Always Allowed)
The "Whitelist (Emails Always Allowed)" section allows the cPanel user to add or remove email addresses or domains to/from the SpamAssassin whitelist.
